Story of film ‘Dus Tola’ is in a small town Sonapur. And unlike most of the film makers who prefer to erect huge village sets in Mumbai city, director Ajoy chose to shoot in a real village.

Revealed Ajoy, “To make a village story authentic, you cannot create it in a studio. Our entire film is based in the village. So we chose to shoot at actual location in Wai and Mahabaleshwar. Certain sequences were done at Gorai too. In fact Manoj’s jewelry shop in the film is an actual shop. We requested the local at Wai to loan it to us for a few days. The jewelry shown in the shop is all real. We really had to be very creative with our lighting and camera to get proper shots.”

In fact quite a lot of locals are seen in many shots as crowd. Ajoy, who is very impressed with folk tales, has the story with him since past 4-5 years and had been visiting Manoj Bajpayee to sign him for the character of Shankar.

“But everytime I met him, I went back for fine tuning the story. Eventually we closed it and began work when he was shooting for Rajneeti. And I am happy that I have Manoj who fits the role to the T. In fact my entire ensemble of the cast has gotten under the skin of the characters. Casting could not have been better,” concluded the filmmaker.
